  Some people think the most important thing about being rich is helping other people. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

  People hold differing views with regard to what is the priority for the rich. While some people believe that the most essential thing for those who are wealthy is assisting people in numerous ways, I, personally, partly agree with this idea.

  In my opinion, the idea of helping others is only true for the top 1% of the rich group. According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory，the desire to maximize social benefits is a higher level of demand than many of basic survival needs. Thus, merely those who have satisfied their physical needs tend to consider giving a helping hand to others by intentionally creating more job opportunities or donating all the properties they have possessed to those in need after death， just like what Buffett, one of the most successful investor, does.

  On the other hand, the rest of the rich people have their own ideas of what is their priority. For some, they incline to spend money on leisure activities such as buying a yacht so that they can hang out on the sea. For others, they gain control of their own time since they there is no need for them to invest time to earn money, so they are able to choose whatever they desire to do. Therefore, the most significant thing can be travelling around the world or doing some extreme sports, which they were unable to do when they were poor or had no time.

  In conclusion, I insist that merely those who rank the highest on the fortune list tend to regard helping others as the most important thing while other rich people still think about themselves first.
