  但第二次鸦片战争时，英法联军把这个建筑瑰宝付之一炬，以至于现在我们也只能看到一些建筑残骸。但无论如何，它的历史意义是无法替代的，今天，我们就来一起聊一聊圆明园!

  Well, I’ve been living in Beijing for several years. After I graduated from my university, I headed to Beijing to seek my dream job and then become one of many Beijing drifters. There’s no doubt that it’s a pretty big struggle when you have to go to great lengths to survive in such a big modern metropolis where fierce competition is everywhere and no one can get rid of it. You don't even notice that working has gradually become a big part of your life and we always get stressed out. So when it comes to me, to cope with my stress and anxiety, I like to spend my free time visiting some places that I’ve been interested in, and among which Yuanmingyuan, also known as the Old Summer Palace, is one of my favorites.

  Being one of the most splendid royal gardens, Yuanmingyuan has attracted thousands of tourists traveling to Beijing. So I always make my trip to it on weekends rather than during peak season. What amazes me the most about it is that you can feel our ancient culture in person when you take a stroll around, appreciating the architecture. It makes me feel like I'm going back in time and witnessing how our country looked like in the old days.
