  A prize that I desire to win is the first place of the 21 Century English Speech Competition, which is considered one of the most well-known English language competitions in China.

  The one who gets the first place will be offered a chance to attend the International Public Speaking Competition held by the English Speaking Union in the United Kingdom, and definitely will also have an opportunity to go sight-seeing in the U.K.

  I got to know about this competition and its tempting prize when I was in my first year of college. You know, I was majoring in English Language and Literature, and at that time to get the Championship is considered the coolest thing. I remember a fellow student of our college has got the first place in that competition and she literally rocked the entire university.

  Well, to nail it is not that easy. I will have to put a lot of effort and time into practicing English except for the daily lessons that I receive at school. For instance, this article is from Laokaoya website, I need to enhance my language skills and focus heavily on the techniques of delivering speeches. Apart from that, I assume reading something about everything is essential because you won’t become a good speaker unless you are a good reader.

  The reason why I long for this prize is not that I really want this fame but that I regard this prize as one of my long-term goal and testimonial of language learning. I know it’s hard but I would spare no effort in getting this prize.
