参考范文:
The graphs give information about the proportions of youngsters who attended school until 18, by comparing the figures for four European countries over the period from 1996 to 2003. Overall, Norway had a much higher percentage, while the UK had a significant increase in this respect.
The majority of Norwegians (over 90%) continued secondary education until 18, with little difference between the situation of men and women. From 1996 to 2003, the figures for both male and female students went up gradually, reaching 100% in 2000 and 2002 respectively. However, the attendance rate of boys had a sudden decline after 2002, falling back to just over 90% in 2003.
In the UK, male and female youngsters had a similar proportion of attending secondary education until 18, at around 65% in 1996. The figures for both groups had a remarkable increase in the next 5 years, going up to 85% in 2000, and remained at this level afterwards.
The situation in Italy and Spain was similar in terms of female students' attendance rate in secondary education. Their proportions fluctuated between 70% and 75% in the given years, without notable changes. By contrast, a higher percentage of Italian boys continued secondary education until the age of 18, climbing from more than a half to nearly 70%. This figure was 5% higher than that for Spanish male students in 1996, with a widening gap to 10% in 2003.
