  Cultural prosperity makes a huge difference to a nation’s prospect, and to this end, museums and art galleries are the essential places for both locals and tourist to get immersed in the complex mosaic of world cultures. Therefore, while some propose that those places should focus on local works, I rather entertain the view that both local and exotic cultures should be displayed.

In this sense, not only can a city’s cultural relics remain intact, but residents’ cultural identity can also be enhanced. In contrast, if more foreign works are presented, residents, owing to their nature of seeking for novelty, are more likely to be obsessed with exotic cultures and take their own culture for granted, which may lead local customs to vanish.

For one thing, museum goers, be they locals or tourists, can gain a glimpse into an overall image of world civilizations, thus spicing up their lives and promoting mutual respect among diverse cultures. Meanwhile, museum goers will not only be proud of their cultural identity when glimpsing their cultural relics in a foreign museum, but also assimilate new elements into their own culture to fit the trend of the era.
