While it is true that the evolving social media landscape has boosted young people's news consumption, perspectives on whether or not to incorporate global news in secondary school curricula vary. I agree that there should be a place for it, despite the growing concern that it will fritter away valuable classroom time.

But this worry may be allayed by offering a course in world news, where students could learn how to verify a report's accuracy, how to assess the social and cultural impacts of the Covid-19 outbreak, and how to anticipate the coming butterfly effects of a downturn in the economy. This ability also prepares the path for future decision-making in either professional, academic or personal life.

Besides, International news could barely be judged fairly, unlike physics and geometry, whose assessment is standardized and quantifiable, which ultimately undoes any discerniblebenefits. Even yet, these issues could be strategically handled by school effort.
