  There is this American-styled diner I frequent in Beijing and it is about 10 min walk from my home. The café is quite small and I think there are only about 7 tables in total. They serve the traditional western cuisine such as burgers and sandwiches, and also they have coffee juice and deserts.

  I don’t think the menu is very impressive and the food tastes above average. The reason I like it is because number one, this diner reminds me of a diner I used to go when I was in USA, small, clean with friendly staffs and comfortable booths. Also, the diner doesn’t allow any outside food and drinks and they are quite strict about it, which is exactly like the one I used to visit back at home.

  Also, the place is quiet in the morning and afternoon unlike popular places such as Starbucks or Tims where there are just too many people and super noisy. Therefore, I teach my students there sometimes and they don’t mind if we just order some coffee and stay for two to three hours.

  Supposedly, this cafe is quite popular in Beijing amongst foreigners and I did run into some people I knew before while I was teaching. I guess the reason foreigners go there is because most of the staffs there can speak very good English. So whenever I am in the mood for a quiet afternoon, I will pay them a visit.
