上学时厌学，打工后厌工，我这糟糕的人生，啥时候算是个头呢？
打工打到脑袋发昏，四肢无力，双眼无神，这日子，过得真是连狗都不如。说起狗，“underdog”是指“不如狗”吗？
“underdog”是什么意思？
underdog，英文释义为：“a person or group of people with less power, money, etc. than the rest of society.” 即：弱势群体；弱势方。
举例：As a politician, her sympathy was always for the underdog in society. 作为一名政治家，她一直同情社会上的弱势群体。
比赛中不被看好的队伍则可以用underdog来表示，表示处于下方的队伍。英文释义：“in a competition, the person or team considered to be the weakest and the leastlikely to win.”
举例：Before the game we were definitely the underdogs. 在赛前我们肯定是不被看好的一方。
一直被看好的队伍，可以用favorite来表示，也可以用shoo-in，稳操胜券的意思。
现在咱们日常说的“爆冷”队伍可以用“upset”来表示，这里的“upset”为名词。牛津辞典中对其解释为：“a situation in which a person or team beats the person or team that was expected to win.” 指一个人或团队击败预期获胜的人或团队的情况。
“top dog”是什么意思？
“top dog”指的可不是“顶尖狗”的意思，这个俚语指“一个人、一个群体或者一个国家在某个方面或者比赛中处于领先或者优胜的地位”，也就是“优胜者，佼佼者或者权威”。
英文释义为：“a person, group or country that is better than all the others, especially in a situation thatinvolves competition.”
举例：The team wanted to prove that they were top dogs in the region. 这个团队想证明自己是这个领域的佼佼者。
此外，“top banana”也可以用来表示“佼佼者”，这个俚语出自20世纪初百老汇舞台剧《Of Thee I Sing》，和 "top dog" 类似，用于形容某个领域或团体中最主要、最有权威的人。
举例：As the CEO of the company, she's definitely the top banana around here. 作为公司的首席执行官，她绝对是这里的顶梁柱。
“big cheese”也有同样的含义，指某个组织或团队中最重要、最有影响力的人。
举例：In the legal world, the managing partner is often considered the big cheese. 在法律界，管理合伙人通常被认为是大人物。
