  1. 本段是市政委员会调查员对交通情况进行访问调查的对话。调查员遇到一位路人，进而展开了访

  问 “I wonder if you could spare a few minutes to do a survey on transport.(请问您可以抽出几分钟做一下关于交通的调查吗?)”其中“spare a few minutes”意为“花几分钟”;“do a survey”意为“做调查”。

  2. 路人同意做此份调查，调查员又简单介绍了所代表的机构“The survey is on behalf of...”，其中“on behalf of’ 意为“代表”。

  3. 简单询问了受访者的基本信息后，调查员让其提一些建议想法，原句为“...I’d like you to give us some ideas about the facilities and arrangements in the city for getting to and from work”，其中“give some ideas about”意为“对……提出些想法”;“get to and from work”意为“上下班”。

  4. 受访者对人行道的减少表示不满，原句为“I think it’s a real shame they’ve been cutting down on the number of footpaths. They should have more of those.”其中“it is a shame (that)”意为“遗憾/可惜的是……”;“cut down”意为“削减”。
