  Some university teachers prefer to record their lectures in advance so that students can familiarize themselves with the material before class. Then teachers can use the class time to help students to practice what they learned while watching or listening.

  Do you think this method of watching or listening before class is an effective way for students to learn? Why or why not?

  【Today, there is no presentation of a complete essay; instead, we focus on one method of reasoning: explanation. We expound on the logic and use a clear line of reasoning to convince our readers of our opinion.】

  中心句： During the preparatory[“准备性的”] time, students may be intrigued by the knowledge they will learn and thus cannot wait to attend the lectures for further probing [原形为probe：“探索/探究”]. 展开explanation：When going through the recordings, students may find something that stimulates their strong curiosity, so they will be eager for the class.

  中心句： Students are reported to display increased confidence in learning, which is another contributor to the learning effectiveness. 展开explanation：With the content previewed,[独立主格结构作方式/条件状语]learners sit in the classroom with prior knowledge [“预先的知识”], having[伴随状语]at least a preliminary[“基础性的”]idea of what they are learning, and will therefore learn without the fear that they do not know what will happen.
