  Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

  The most important characteristic of a politician is having good communication skills.

  写作范文：

  话题离普通人的生活较远

  思考：politicians做什么?

  (在议会里)与人协商、联系百姓民众、抛头露面应对媒体

  典型的具备good communication skills的(起码)三个点。

  于是，确定写作核心 (部分)：

  ● negotiate, negotiation, bargain,

  ● persuade, persuasive, convince, convincing, compel, compelling

  ● present, presentation, expressive

  如果不围绕politician这个职业讨论的话，就是走题

  同时，论证时注意：

  不是讨论why they need good communication skills

  而是讨论 whether it is their most important characteristic

  第一点的论证思路：交流的一种对象：其他政治家。

  Congress men and women ← politicians是谁 work to propose bills and to get the bills passed ← politicians做什么. Senators ← 细化了politicians是谁 work to sign bills into laws ← politicians做什么, and the process of legislation is never easy because there are doubts about and opposition to the bills. To remove the obstacles, they must be able to well negotiate with and persuade the opposition ←引子：引出politicians需要的能力. During the negotiation or debate, a politician makes a compelling case, builds a strong argument or establishes a solid line of reasoning to gain the approval of others ←其实就是communicate的过程. Since all of this is the major part of a politician’s job, possessing the skills that enable them to perform the job well, which are to convey ideas effectively and to successfully sell them, is the most important and marked characteristic of a politician. ← 逻辑的关键一句，搭建了一个因果关系

  这一点，用Explanation已经完成了论证，且举例不易，就不举例了。

  第二点的论证思路：交流的另一群对象：百姓民众和媒体(其实还是面对百姓民众)。

  In addition to debating with their opponents across the aisle, 仍然是先说明politicians做什么：politicians must be articulate and intelligible in front of the public and the camera. Either in physical presence or on TV, they obviously want their constituents to understand them and to be fond of them. ←仍然是引子来引出politicians需要的能力To be well understood and liked, they are careful with their diction, gestures, facial expressions and many other details in their presentation of themselves. ← 仍然其实就是communicate的过程 Such politicians are frequently seen. ←引出例子的语言不仅仅是For example/instance 【the example is deliberately omitted.
